The "L" is a typical shape for a Doo Wop motel, but this one is more like a "7". The L-shaped pool is located inside the 7. The prow roof is expressed on the Ocean Avenue facade.
The Bel Air occupies the entire west side of Ocean Ave., between Morning Glory and Buttercup Rds., in the northern reaches of the Crest. It is most famously neighbored to the south (across Buttercup) by the
Caribbean Motel. The Aqua Beach Resort sits across Ocean Ave. to the east. Portions of the since-demolished
Siesta Motel/Resort stood immediately to the west and across Morning Glory to the north. The Wildwood border at Cresse Ave. is just one block away to the north.
- The Bel Air was originally a one-story motel.
- Signage was originally provided by a large roadside neon sign that stood near the corner of Ocean & Buttercup, roughly in front of the office area.
- The rooftop neon sign that sits atop the Bel Air today is a recently-produced exact replica of the original. The sign received new (and much more vibrant) neon tubing just prior to the 2008 season
- The motel's motto is: "A Gem By The Water"
Located in the Doo Wop Historic District.
