Q: I am having trouble logging in.
A: Here are some common pitfalls with the login process:
If you have checked these three things and are still having problems, send us an email.
Q: I had problems logging in, so I requested a second password, but didn't get it.
A: The email with your new (temporary) password may have been blocked by your "Spam blocker." If you have a "Spam" or "Junk" folder, check there for the email.
...And don't forget to add us to your "allowed" sites. (Check with your email provider for how to do this.)
Q: How do I add a motel (restaurant//business...) that I don't see on the list?
A: There is an 'Add New Entry' link at the top of the 'Doo wop Spots' page. You are only required to know the name of the establishment, but the more you can add, the better.
Q: OK, guys, I added the spot to the database...I've looked all over the 'Doo Wop Spots' page. Now where is it?
A: Uh, it's not there...yet. It's OK. You did everything right. The data is in our temporary storage location, you can review all your pending submissions on the My Submissions page. It will be there until we get a chance to ensure that we haven't been 'spammed' or otherwise hoodwinked. (It is the web, after all.) When it gets moved to the permanent database, it will appear on the 'Doo Wop Spots page and on the 'Map.'
Q: I have a whole slew of pictures. Am I able to upload images for a 'Doo Wop Spot'?
A: Photos can be uploaded on the My Photos page. This is also where you can review and manage all your pending uploaded photos. Additionally you can upload them on the edit page of any 'Doo Wop Spot'.
Be sure to review our Upload Policy located on our Policies page.
Q: What do you do with my profile information? I'm concerned about whether my information is going to be visible to anyone other than site administration.
A: Your profile determines how we display your name on this site. (By default, your username will be used.)
We will not post your email address publicly and will take great care not to allow others to obtain it. (For example, we will not send emails in such a way that your email address is visible to a mailing list.)
Your IP address is logged in our database to track who contributes (and to help block spam and inappropriate content.) It will also be included on comments that you make in the 'News' section.
We only require a username and an email address to register for the site.
In short: If you are uncomfortable giving out any information - don't.
